YCLSA Press Statement on the removal of comrade Madoda Sambatha from the executive comittee of the North West Provincial Government.

3 June 2017

The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) in Moses Kotane province (North West) has convened a provincial committee (PC) meeting that commenced from the evening of the 2nd of June 2017 at 19:00 in Stillfontein. The PC meeting is intended to assess the progress informed by the provincial program since the last PC meeting. As part of the assessment, the PC will look, engage and resolve on the current political developments in our province and the country.

In light of the current political developments, the YCLSA in Moses Kotane province wants to state categorically clear that we are not shocked neither surprised by the reaction of the chief architect of the Premier league, Supra Mahumapelo on removing MEC for the Department of Public Works and Roads Cde Madoda Sambatha who is the Provincial Secretary of the SACP in Moses Kotane province. Tantamount to this delayed removal of our Provincial Secretary from the EXCO, it should be known that this reaction is informed by the fact that Cde Sambatha has always represented the views of the working class without fear of any contradictions and prejudice. The recent Moses Kotane Memorial Lecture in particular, has evidently proved beyond reasonable doubt that the premier is politically disarmed and useless, hence the reaction.

It is precisely on this background that we view this desperate move by the premier as being over-clouded by political paranoia of the working class choice on who is to lead the ANC and the country beyond the December Elective Conference.

The YCLSA is said to engage extensively on this matter and will convene press conference to update the public and the society on its position.

All media houses are invited to a press conference which will be convened as follows:

Date: 04 June 2017
Venue: SACP Provincial Office
TIME: 15H00
