YCL applauds van der Burgh win
30 July 2012
The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] joins millions of South Africans in congratulating Cameron van der Burgh for winning a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics currently underway in the city of London.
Van der Burgh won South Africa`s first medal of the 2012 Games on the second day of the competition. He did not only win a gold medal but also broke an Olympic (at the Aquatic Centre) and world record time of 58.46 seconds in the 100-metre breaststroke event after setting an Olympic record of 58.83 in Saturday night`s semi-finals at the Aquatic Centre.
His win inspires the entire nation and strengthens our belief that winning the expected 12 medals is possible. The YCL would also like to wish well another swimmer Chad le Clos as he competes in the 200metres Butterfly event today and also other South African participants at the games.
